چکیده
Pair-formation, courtship, copulatory, and post-copulatory behaviors of Eidmanacris meridionalis Desutter-Grandcolas, 1995, were described under laboratory conditions compared with congeneric species other Phalangopsidae crickets whose mating behavior has been previously studied. Field observations for the are also reported. Mating observed in E. couples: they first remained motionless, then began walking through arena screening substrate. started antennal contact, followed by males positioning themselves front females, that, when receptive, mounted on back feeding metanotum secretions males. Copulation (female-above-male position) engaging copulatory structures stopped couple detachment. The end-to-end position was once, right after Males always spermatophore, which eaten removal or, alternatively, left main differences regard duration reproductive stages, suggesting that repertoires can be genus since 27 have not yet studied regards their behavior. We assume morphological, genetic, chemical diversity found among reflects pair-formation, copulation, post-copulation, leading to a copulation positions, methods attracting partners parental investment. description patterns provide important information future evolutionary phylogenetic studies, apart from useful distinguishing cryptic species.

Stalacris n. gen. (Insecta, Grylloidea, Phalangopsidae) is described from South Africa using characters of morphology and male genitalia. This taxon, known from only two species, Stalacris meridionalis n. gen., n. sp. and Stalacris sp, is characterized by the unique structure of its forewings. These are prolonged distally as long, acute and more or less articulated processes, forming a kind of ...

Adult males of Eidmanacris corumbatai Garcia have reduced tegmina without stridulatory apparatus. For this reason, they developed other means ofintra-specific communication. During courtship, the males use a combination of foreleg drumming and waving of the antennae, in addition to chemical signaling through pheromones. The females become receptive to copulation when the males expose their meta...

With 15 described species, Eidmanacris is one of the largest Luzarinae genera from South America. In Brazil, 12 species occur in two large biomes, the Atlantic Forest and Cerrado. Here, we describe four new species of Eidmanacris from Brazil: E. bernardii Nihei & de Mello, n. sp., E. papaveroi Nihei & de Mello, n. sp., E. simoesi Nihei & de Mello, n. sp., and E. eliethae Nihei & de Mello, n. sp...
